Principal Investigator in Modeling of Plant Stress Responses

tendersglobal.net

We are looking for a person that is interested in plant stress responses and is using modeling to understand the process. Your background can be in computer science, mathematics, physics or biology as we are looking for a person that can bridge two successful research environments, IceLab and UPSC.

Application deadline: May 22, 2024

At Umeå University’s interdisciplinary research hub, IceLab (Integrated Science Lab) we foster multidisciplinary collaborations – focusing on innovative research that integrates theoretical, computational, and empirical work. You will join the excellence centre Stress Response Modeling at IceLab, where we explore universal mechanisms for how living systems respond to stress.

Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC) is one of the strongest research environments in experimental plant biology in Europe. Here you will have access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure and support from more than two hundred plant researchers. Our research spans from biochemistry and molecular biology to physiology and the ecosystem level.

We invite you to join IceLab and UPSC and be part of a stimulating and supportive community of collaborative-minded scientists working on a panel of interdisciplinary problems. We are looking for a candidate who combines quantitative and computational literacy with domain-specific literacy.

We are now opening an Associate Professor position in plant stress responses at the Department of Plant Physiology. The position presents a unique opportunity to conduct independent research. Join our supportive environment and work at the forefront of multidisciplinary science. Your research will be instrumental in improving our understanding of the processes that govern the responses of living organisms to environmental change and stress.

We offer a fully funded associate professor position and depending on the applicant a substantial starting package including fully funded PhD student and Post Doc Positions and enough support to equip your new laboratory in Umeå. Teaching at predominantly advanced level is included but to a limited extent. You will have time to develop your research.
