About This Opportunity
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work have four vacancies for Principal Practice Educators to join the Practice Education Team. As a Principal Practice Educator, you will facilitate students’ learning in practice and support or provide direct supervision to students on placement and support assessment. You will contribute to preparing students for placement and evaluating placement experiences. Liaising with a diverse range of key stakeholders, you will build relationships and capacity to maintain and expand placement opportunities.
These positions are based in a number of Brisbane based Hospitals and Health Services with one role being available at each of the following locations : Mater South Brisbane, Mater Redlands, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Redland Hospital. Applicants will be asked to indicate their location of interest.
It is expected that planned leave will be taken outside of the primary clinical teaching periods that align with the academic calendar or clinical placement periods. Applicants will be required to take a combination of paid and unpaid leave over the December to February period. Please take this into consideration before submitting your application.
Key responsibilities will include:

Practice Education: Apply recent professional experience to facilitate uni-professional and inter-professional practice learning in a variety of settings.

Contribute to the assessment of students’ knowledge and skills.

Facilitate evaluation and research of practice learning.
-
Placements: Organise and carry out placement supervision and student liaison for student placements across a variety of settings.

Administration: Perform a range of administrative functions in the Student-led clinics.
These are full-time, permanent positions.
At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $94,754 – $103,180, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $110,862 – $120,721 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
-
A degree in a discipline from within the School (Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and Counselling) and evidence of continuous professional development.
-
Ability to leverage recent industry experience and knowledge of the health and social care sector to deliver current evidence-based approaches, guidance and supervision in the area of practical based education.

Demonstrated ability to positively develop and manage strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders across a wide client base.
-
Demonstrated experience in exercising tact, judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential and personal matters.

Experience and sound skills in using software packages to support reporting, stakeholder management and program functions.

Previous supervisory skills of practice education students including but not limited to supervision, educational evaluation, instructing in a variety of learning environments (including simulation) and contributing towards assessment.

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, communicate and report back to various stakeholders across the School, University and external providers.

An understanding of the demands and opportunities within a complex and multidisciplinary practice and/or inter-professional teaching environment and previous experience managing and prioritising these tasks effectively.

Demonstrated leadership skill and the ability to negotiate to achieve the best possible outcomes in an environment that provides a high level of customer service.

Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

Professional Registrations and Licences: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains a full professional qualification that means they are eligible for registration with the appropriate regulatory or professional body such as AHPRA, AASW and/or PACFA.

Working with Children (Blue Card): It is a requirement of this position that prior to commencement the incumbent holds and maintains a current blue card.
