The Corporate Risk Management Department (CRM) is responsible for comprehensive risk management at a corporate level, including Financial Risk, Risk Strategy, Model Risk, Data Analytics, Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, and Business Continuity.
CRM is currently seeking a Principal Financial Risk Officer to lead the Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, and Business Continuity functions. This role involves conducting thorough analysis, generating policies, procedures, and comprehensive risk reports, collaborating closely with other departments such as Treasury, Operations, and Accounting, and overseeing a team of risk professionals.
The non-financial Risk Principal Officer will report to the CRM Director and will be part of the CRM Leadership Team.
Duties and Accountabilities
The non-financial Risk Principal Officer will:
• Lead and manage the non-financial risk team (CRMNR) to achieve its objectives and workplan, including hiring, performance management, mentoring, and career guidance.
• Coordinate with other stakeholders across IFC, including Treasury, Credit and Investment Risk, Corporate Portfolio Management, the Controller’s department, and other regional and industry departments, to support activities of the Corporation.
• Develop and implement a robust enterprise risk management (ERM) framework that aligns with industry best practices and organizational objectives.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize operational risks across the organization, including emerging risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
• Design and implement business continuity plans and procedures to ensure organizational resilience in the face of disruptions and crises.
• Foster a risk-aware culture within the organization by promoting risk awareness, education, and training initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management processes and controls and recommend improvements as necessary.
• Stay updated on emerging risks and industry trends, and proactively introduce innovative solutions to address these risks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate market practices into business processes and decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies related to operational risk, business continuity, and ERM.
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field, with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
• Experience overseeing operational risk management, business continuity planning, and enterprise risk management functions.
• Proven track record in operational risk management, business continuity planning, and enterprise risk management.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
• Familiarity with industry standards related to operational risk, business continuity, and enterprise risk management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in leading and motivating diverse teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive and innovative mindset, with the ability to anticipate and address emerging risks and challenges.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to present technical issues clearly and engage with senior-level audiences.
• Ability to develop senior-level relationships and build networks within and outside IFC.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards.
