Are you ready to take on a pivotal leadership role that will drive positive change within the Aboriginal community? We are seeking a dynamic Principal Solicitor to join our client in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

As the Principal Solicitor, you will play a crucial part in Closing the Gap, fostering community partnerships, and maintaining significant relationships with government and justice sector bodies.

• Lead the strategic direction of the CTG and Community Partnerships and Programs teams
• Develop and embed Closing the Gap policy priorities across the organization, ensuring effective representation in associated partnerships and governance structures
• Collaborate with Principal Solicitors, managers, and community stakeholders to drive community-led justice initiatives and justice reinvestment

Preferred Requirements:

• Strong legal background with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives within the legal sector
• Ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders in the community and government sectors
• Demonstrated proficiency in leading and managing teams, aligning with organisational values and goals
• Commitment to advocating for justice and achieving positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Admission as a lawyer in NSW, with extensive post-admission experience
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in law from a recognised institution
• Experience working within an Aboriginal Legal Service or similar community-focused legal practice

Remuneration:

$168,000 salary base + super + salary sacrifice opportunities.

Travel will be required (transport & accommodation will be covered)

This is a remote based role but you must live in NSW or the ACT. Access to our clients offices on a ‘hot desk’ request is also available.
