NewcastleMy client are a privately owned Consultancy in Newcastle who specialise in Civil and Structural Engineering. They have been established nearly 20 years and are an Engineer of choice for a number of their local clients. They have a proud reputation for consistently delivering high quality engineering services at a reasonable cost to their growing list of clients and are looking to expand their team yet again by adding a Principal Engineer to their Structures Team.You will be responsible for aspects of design work from conception through to technical approval/completion on projects typically ranging from £500k to £20m. Potential schemes you may be working on range from accommodation, retail developments, car showrooms, educational buildings, commercial offices and industrial and manufacturing buildings. A thorough knowledge of MasterSeries or Tekla is needed for the role as you will be required to prepare conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes and detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance notesThis is a client facing role and you will be responsible for all aspect of the delivery of projects. scheme designs and input into scheme design reports and the delivery of detailed design including full tender and construction packages. You will liaise with statutory authorities, architects, the design team and contractors and attend client, design and site meetings, and site inspections.Supporting the Managing Director with team targets, you will contribute towards producing bids and tenders and also carry out structural surveys of buildings and structures, providing advice on any issues that may arise. As well as overseeing engineering design and compliance with the duties of Designer under the CDM regulations 2015, you will manage client expectations, feeding back any matters arising back to Directors.The successful applicant should be a Technical Engineer who has the ability to manage teams to deliver a high-quality product.
