A Little More About What You Will be Doing

The Procedure Room Tech is responsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures within Cedars-Sinai Endoscopy Center, in accordance with established procedures. Cross trains to assist other clinical and front office staff as requested. Functions collaboratively with physicians and staff, exhibiting teamwork characteristics.

  • Assists in preparing patient for designated procedure
  • Assists the physician and/or RN during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Cleans endoscopy equipment and instruments in compliance with center policy
  • Observes standard precautions per protocol
  • Assist in collection of patient specimens
  • Accurately completes laboratory requisitions and culture/path requisitions as requested and directed by physician
  • Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies
  • Assists with housekeeping responsibilities as directed by Charge Nurse
  • Accurately completes laboratory requisitions and culture/path requisitions as requested and directed by physician
  • Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and ensures housekeeping responsibilities are completed as directed by Charge Nurse
  • Ensures procedure room is within the standards of cleanliness after the completion of each procedure and that supplies are adequately stocked
  • Responds to emergency situations as directed by physician and/or RN in charge
  • Participates in medical records audits, medication inventory, collecting data for infection control, QAPI activities and Safety Programs and updates physician preference card
  • Responsible for front office tasks including answering phone, greeting patients, etc. when assigned to assist in this area
  • Ensures endoscopes are reprocessed
  • Transports patients to vehicles at discharge

Education

  • High school diploma and/or GED preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program preferred

Experience

  • 1 year of experience in a Gastroenterology practice or Endoscopy center required

Licenses/Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
