Based in Mexico City or in Bogota, the Associate will focus on supporting the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Regional Office and the Country Programs operating in the region by equipping teams to effectively and efficiently procure goods, works and services to enable high quality delivery of their projects. The Associate will promote a client-focused, quality and results- oriented approach and will provide support to GGGI staff across the Latin America and Caribbean Region, in compliance with GGGI’s processes, policies and procedures and in collaboration with teams in HQ and the LAC Regional Office. The Procurement Associate will have a dual reporting line to the LAC Operations Senior Associate and GGGI Head of Procurement.
The individual chosen for this role will be expected to undergo a comprehensive two-month training program in Seoul, Korea, immediately upon commencing their assignment.
PURPOSE
- Ensure integrity across procurement processes, complying with established GGGI policies, standards, while ensuring timely action and response.
- Manage the RO LAC procurement plan throughout the year and support monthly new staff onboardings on procurement related topics.
- Guide and support regional and country office staff to carry out medium and high value procurement to meet the user’s needs in compliance with the rules.
- Support enhanced efficiency and effectiveness of procurement requirements in LAC for effective functioning of the Regional and Country offices and delivery of high-quality projects.
ENGAGEMENT
- Collaborate with the LAC Regional Director, the Operations Senior Associate, and Program Managers in the countries to support high quality procurement processes that meet project requirements in line with GGGI’s rules and practices.
- Engage with GGGI staff in the HQ Procurement Unit at GGGI’s headquarters in Seoul to ensure alignment and integrity across processes.
- Partner with staff across the LAC region to understand their needs, requirements, and pain points while consistently delivering training and advise on the rules, best practices, and standards of procurement, in line with GGGI’s rules, policies and procedures.
DELIVERY
- Administer a range of procurement support activities, ensuring compliance with GGGI’s rules, regulations and policies.
- Execute multi-step procurement processes, including quality control and review of submitted documents from users to ascertain compliance with rules.
- Conduct quality assurance on procurement procedures and traceability of procurement history.
- Organize, facilitate and/or deliver onboarding, training, and learning initiatives on procurement for LAC personnel.
- Monitor, and follow-up on procurement actions taken in ERP system.
- Prepare procurement data, records, and information material.
- Deliver training and support capacity building of LAC staff to ensure widespread knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policies and procedures.
- Administratively and technically support the LAC RO and its countries’ planning, and requisitions/procurement processes.
- Support bidding and tendering processes especially in evaluation
- Lead all the processes related to direct procurement, especially in terms of negotiation.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Contract Management, Business Administration, Procurement Law, or another related field.
- Practical working experience, ideally in an international organization and in the procurement field would be a strong asset.
- Preference of 4-5 years of relevant experience in procurement or related services.
- Good level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or similar software.
- Experience working in teams with varied levels of responsibilities.
- Strong Spanish and English communication (speaking, writing and presentation) skills.
- Mexican citizen/ Colombian citizen or entitled to work in Mexico or Colombia.

The chosen candidate is expected to be based in Mexico City, Mexico or Bogota, Colombia, and will report directly to the LAC Operations Senior Associate (based in Mexico City).
