As a Procurement and Contracts Manager, you will provide expert guidance, ensure compliance with legal and Council requirements, and support the development and implementation of the Council’s procurement strategy. This role is ideal for someone passionate about driving excellence in procurement and delivering impactful public services in addition you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in the application of the new Procurement Act 2023 and gain exposure to a range of council services.What’s the role?

  • You will provide professional procurement advice, guidance and expertise across the council
  • You will manage the operational delivery of tenders across a range of categories of council services
  • You will support the development and implementation of the council’s procurement strategy and policy
  • You will support the development of procurement related improvements, championing their adoption and delivery of benefits including the full procurement cycle, contract management and systems.
  • Ability to provide advice on the Provider Selection Regime and procurements under PCR 2015.

What we’re looking forWe are seeking an experienced public sector procurement professional who has extensive knowledge across a variety of categories. You should be able to lead and manage the procurement processes for competitive tendering. A proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving and organisational skills is required. You should have significant expertise in procurement with a proven ability to ensure compliance, deliver value for money, and support strategic objectives.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, as you will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored, effective solutions.You should also have strong time management abilities, capable of prioritising multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.You will be responsible for managing the team as well as shaping a new strategy, policy and processes.LocationThe job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work in the office and from home on a regular basis.Special conditions
