Job title:

Procurement Manager

Company

Liverpool John Moores University

Job description

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Procurement Team at LJMU.

You will be a key member of the Procurement Services Team supporting academic and operational activities across the University.

You will be a confident procurement professional capable of managing and prioritising workloads, liaising with a range of colleagues, and providing professional support to senior colleagues and users across the university. You will be committed to providing an excellent service to the highest standards. You will understand the role of procurement within a complex organisation and can expect to be involved in some external interactions also.

The role requires an understanding of value for money through transparent tendering procedures, sound skills of managing tenders and projects, and strong interpersonal abilities. You will be a good communicator and a ‘people person’, well organised and IT literate. You will be expected to work within the University’s Financial Regulations, Procedures and Sustainable Procurement Policy, as well as having working knowledge and experience of public sector tendering and available framework agreements.

You should understand the role of procurement in delivering value, managing risk and supporting colleagues to do this. You will be MCIPs qualified or working towards this.

You will ideally have experience of driving the delivery of social value outcomes through the tender process.

You will line manage three staff overseeing procurement transactions including purchase order creation, supplier set-up, and implementing and maintaining efficient processes to reduce errors and deliver quality data.

You will be able to work with minimum supervision, whilst also being an effective team leader, organised, accurate, numerate, and familiar with finance and e-tendering systems.

Interviews will be held on 28th February 2024

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
