Position Overview

A fantastic opportunity for a well-rounded senior procurement professional to further develop their career in an environment of continuous improvement. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead a team of Procurement and Contracts specialists.

This role can be based on our Palmerston North or Wellington Campus with a preference being Palmerston North location.

As our Procurement Manager you will lead the provision ofprocurement advice, services, and support to ensure the University takes a best practice, strategic souring approach to its end-to-end procurement and management of contracts. You will be responsible for serving as a change agent in building a culture of progressive procurement, process efficiency and effectiveness through continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement and digitalization activities.

Key accountabilities include:

• Strategic Sourcing Development, Planning, and Implementation and provision of advice to Massey managers.
• Lead Procurement Transformation efforts through collaboration with cross functional teams and demonstrate persuasive leadership and collaboration skills in influencing stakeholders to adopt best practice procurement policies, processes, and best practices.
• Running effective RFP processes.
• Leading contract negotiation
• Risk management and mitigation.
• Building strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver to the identified commercial outcomes.
• Lead Procurement Transformation efforts through collaboration with cross functional teams and demonstrate persuasive leadership and collaboration skills in influencing stakeholders to adopt best practice procurement policies, processes, and best practices.

What you will bring:

• At least 7 years managing large procurement and contract teams preferably in an large organisation
• Formal people leadership/management experience.
• Experience in a commercial environment and with change and transformational management experience is desirable.
• Demonstrable experience of working with large numbers of stakeholders.
• An ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with changing priorities
• An ability to work with ambiguity
• Experience in embedding sustainability and Te Tiriti considerations into sourcing and supply chain strategies is desirable.
