Introduction: The Ministry of Forests and Environment (MOFE) is now revising the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) as mandated under Articles 3, 6, 20, and 21 of the Convention to align with the GBF1, including the corresponding national targets. The revised plan will provide a strategic framework for conserving and managing Nepal’s biodiversity while serving as the key instrument for translating the global biodiversity targets into national actions. NBSAP revision will adopt a forward-looking approach, where it integrates the learning from the past NBSAP while integrating the changing context of the country, such as economic and political transformation. The revision of the NBSAP will be carried out by (a) integrating the current state of knowledge, (b) following participatory and consultative processes at the national and sub-national level, (c) integrating lessons from the review of the progress of the earlier action plan, (d) addressing drivers of the biodiversity losses and (e) ensuring the meaningful engagement of all stakeholders, especially women, indigenous peoples, and local communities. United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Nepal provides technical support to the MOFE to facilitate the preparation of the NBSAP through the Early Action Support Project.
