The Polio Eradication Program (PEP) seeks to ensure that future generations of children will be free from the threat of polio paralysis. Achieving this goal depends on interrupting poliovirus transmission and ensuring rapid detection and effective responses to poliovirus outbreaks occurring in DRC. The strategic objective of PEP is to support national authorities to eradicate all forms of polio, both wild and variant, strengthen immunization systems, support detection through surveillance and laboratory networks, and ensure high quality responses to outbreaks.
