Working in a very small team, you will play a key role in continuing to develop the relatively new procurement function within Browne Jacobson.What does the role actually involve?

  • Working with multiple stakeholders across varied lines of business to determine their needs and requirements, sourcing the best goods or services to meet these needs.
  • Running tenders, evaluating bids and making recommendations, based on commercial, technical and other relevant factors.
  • Identifying and researching potential new suppliers and recommending the best strategy for existing suppliers to ensure that the firm receives the appropriate services or goods for the best value for money in a timely fashion.
  • Managing the firm’s supplier due diligence process to appropriately assess the risk profile of suppliers
  • Identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes and procedures
  • Taking ownership of identified spend categories and processes
  • Negotiating contracts with suppliers and manage supplier relationships and performance

  • Data analysis and mathematics skills
  • Superior organisational skills
  • Good business instincts and financial analysis skills to enable benchmarking, cost reduction and continuous improvement
  • Excellent negotiation abilities
  • Understanding of supply chain management procedures
  • Strategic planning abilities
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and change management principles
  • Sufficient contract knowledge and experience to be able to deal with some terms and conditions independently

Who would be a good fit for this role?As part of the small procurement team, you would be expected to have the following skills and experience:

  • Indirect procurement and contract negotiation experience, ideally in a regulated environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the firm and external suppliers
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
