Who will you be working with?

The Product Engineer will be responsible for driving the development of new products and standardisation for a given product family.

How will you make a difference?

Assisting with tender coordination and validation across the product line and helping to reduce costs through design and standard catalogues.

What will your typical day look like?

  • As Wabtec is a global company and has multiple manufacturing and engineering sites around the world; applicants must be willing to travel internationally when required.
  • Maintain from a technical standpoint, the product portfolio, fulfilling the needs of OE tenders and project execution.
  • Development/withdrawal of products and product variants according to the strategy set by the product manager.
  • Creation of effective documentation for products.
  • Execution of the necessary validations.
  • Management of non-conformity applicable to the products after system engineering confirmation.
  • Interface Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Laboratory for procuring parts, assembling, testing, and validating prototypes.
  • Lead the activities for reducing the cost of specific products.
  • Propose a yearly Margin Improvement Plan.
  • Apply the design for assembly and testability including the concurrent design with Suppliers.
  • Perform Supplier Quality Assurance, design reviews, and drafting specifications for commodities and purchased articles.
  • Provide the validation status of the product and the list of ongoing and foreseen modifications, together with its evaluation of possible risks on the costs.
  • Contribute to the industrialisation process and ToT.
  • Contribute to the programming activity of the product manager (list of activities, time plan, budget, risks).
  • Contribute to the preparation of the engineering product budget.
  • Support the resolution of the quality product issue.

What do we want to know about you?

  • As Wabtec is a global company and has multiple manufacturing and engineering sites around the world; applicants must be willing and enthusiastic to travel internationally when required.
  • Engineering experience required e.g., Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Health and Safety, Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production, Quality, Design.
  • HND / Degree in engineering or equivalent preferred but not essential
  • Fully proficient with modern manufacturing methodology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Meticulous and detail oriented.
  • Efficient planning and time-management skills.
  • Ability to correlate information effectively.
