Freedom Solutions
Freedom Solutions operates across NSW and Victoria. It is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organisation providing assistive technology solutions and occupational therapy services for people living with disability and older people. For over 40 years we have been a valued stakeholder in the disability services sector, enabling our clients to achieve their goals through the:
- Design and construction of custom assistive technology otherwise commercially unavailable;
- Modification of commercially available equipment to suit clients’ individual needs;
- Freedom Wheels customised Bike Service; and
- Provision of specialised technical advice to clients
The Role
As a Product Specialist you will be a crucial part of our dedicated team, working in Northmead to serve our Freedom Wheels program. You will collaborate with staff, volunteers, and treating therapists across Melbourne and regional Victoria to ensure that our clients receive the highest quality care and outcomes. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing clients’ needs, planning and conducting bike trials, and providing support for inclusive sports activities.
Summary of Responsibilities include:
- Plan and coordinate bike trials to assess clients’ support needs and prescribe customised bikes.
- Conduct trials with consideration for clients’ physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities.
- Establish rapport with clients, creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.
- Conduct off-site Melbourne Metro trial days.
- Travel to regional areas to run trials.
- Flexibility to work on Saturdays (approximately every 1-2 months) for Freedom Wheels trials, if required.
Other:
- Provide support to the Inclusive Sports Coordinator, assisting with Community Inclusive Sports Days.
- Support the development of partnership programs with disability schools and providers.
- Foster partnerships with organisations in the disability and aged care sector.
- Prepare and deliver in-service education sessions for occupational therapy and physiotherapy groups.
Administration:
- Effectively plan and manage your workload to achieve primary goals.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes in the database.
- Prepare reports for interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Undertake other duties as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a passion for recreation and enabling others to live active and full lives. We are looking for someone who has a bachelor’s in health science, Diploma or Cert IV in Leisure and Health or similar qualifications. We are willing to look at others who have qualification outside of the ones mentioned if they have relevant experience.
You will have excellent planning and organisation skills as well as the ability to relate to clients from diverse backgrounds. You will have strong communication skills and a solid understanding of allied health practices.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Working with Children Check as well as an NDIS screening Check.
