Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Overview

The Data Integrity Professional is responsible for helping University Advancement improve both data integrity and procedure documentation following the transition to the UC Innovation ascend product from Ellucian’s AdvanceWeb. This includes working closely with the supervisor of the Records team to define and document Bio-related data governance and access rules to ensure data alignment for UA and campus use. The successful candidate will be an Advancement Subject Matter Expert (SME) with SQL query-writing skills and expert knowledge of both Ellucian AdvanceWeb and UCI’s ascend CRM.

Basic Function

Reporting to the Supervisor of the Records team, key responsibilities of the Data Integrity Professional include, but are not limited to the following:

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports maintenance of UA Bio data, which may include business definitions, data management, glossaries (business/technical), key performance indicators, and principles for execution. 
    • Crafts draft documentation to enable the transparency of the processes that create, enhance, maintain, and govern the use of UA Bio data.
    • When necessary, collaborates with reporting analysis and data strategy functions to represent needs of the domain; assesses and identifies impacts across multiple complex projects.
    • Develops and delivers draft processes that identify, analyze, report, and address data quality and data usage issues.
    • Develops and delivers draft processes that evaluate and document new or changing data sources.
      • Supports the development and implementation of new data policies.
  • Acts as a secondary UA data SME and key resource in the area of information stewardship and governance to ensure the integrity of information by working with the Supervisor of the Records team to identify, prioritize, and address data integrity, loading and processing issues resulting from conversion and Steady State functionality, including metadata management, reference/master data management, and data quality. 
    • Performs data analysis for various UA data quality initiatives.
    • Coordinates the analysis of data gaps by collaborating with appropriate data owners and business partners.
    • Provides ongoing review, modification, and documentation of complex, data management systems.
    • Recommends the remediation of issues affecting data quality, security, availability, and protocols (business logic).
  • Facilitates knowledge transfer of practices and procedures that have previously resulted in strong data integrity for UA, emphasizing those with strongest return on investment (ROI) – like NCOA – as we complete our first years in the new CRM.

  • Performs the general duties and responsibilities of a Data Resource Administrator as a university-wide resource with university-wide impact.
  • Maintains currency in the field through continuous learning.

Work Environment

  • Negligible disagreeable working conditions. The job requires moderate physical effort and involves viewing a VDT 26-75% of the time.

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant college degree in a related discipline, such as Business, Management Information Systems or Data Sciences
  • 20 years of work experience in data management in an environment with large, complex databases
  • Effective communicator and collaborator working in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong project and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in data management
  • Experience in defining and managing data-related processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Expert knowledge of Ellucian AdvanceWeb and UC Innovation’s ascend CRM
  • Experience writing sound SQL queries
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Advance use of analyst tools (Informatica, Data Loader, etc.)
