To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to formulate, evaluate and implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State’s health development agendas that aims to increase access to and effectiveness of high-quality health care, sound Health Financing and Human Resources strategies and better Health Governance.

Description Of Duties:
- The incumbent will perform the following duties:Participate actively in the development of vector control strategies and plans for prevention of malaria and other major vector borne diseases at thecountry level and monitor their implementation.
- Ensure and monitor the implementation and increasing coverage of vector control interventions (residual spraying ,insecticide treated nets, larviciding, etc.) in the context of integrated vector control management (IVM).
- Promote judicious use and sound management of public health pesticides in full cooperation with other international organizations and relevant sectors(Agriculture, Environment, Municipalities).
- Strengthen entomological surveillance and monitoring the susceptibility of malaria and other vectors to insecticides.
- Collaborate with member states in developing the strategy for preparedness and response tooutbreaks of malaria and other VBDs, particularly countries in humanitarian emergency situation in collaboration with the Department of Health Emergencies(WHE).
- Ensure the human resources development – in the field of medical entomology and vector control and promote vector control research.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Education:
- Essential: Universitydegree in biology, entomology parasitology, environmental health, publichealth or other relevant discipline.
- Desirable: Specialized Training or degreeon vector surveillance and insecticide resistance. Training on malaria and other tropical diseases.
Experience:
- Essential: At least 5 years’ experience in management and implementation of vector control programme for malaria and other VBDs

- Demonstratedin depth knowledge of entomology and vector control.- Broad understanding of public health issues including chemical safety- Knowledge of epidemiology of vector borne diseases and transmission dynamics, impact of interventions
Use of Language Skills:
- Essential: Expert knowledge of English. Intermediate knowledge of French. Expert knowledge of Local Language.
- Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of Other WHO Language
