The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) is the leading
professional membership body for applied practitioners of the science of ecology. Our vision of
a healthy natural environment for the benefit of current and future generations can only be
realised through raising the profile and effectiveness of the work of professional ecologists
and environmental managers. We are looking for a highly motivated Professional Practice Manager
to help us raise standards across the industry by supporting and challenging ecologists to be
ambitious for themselves and nature. The post-holder will help us to reward and spotlight
existing high standards, develop and deliver projects and activities to support and share good
practice, and where necessary, follow established procedures to address alleged poor practice.

These are exciting and yet challenging times to be an ecologist or environmental manager. There
is much work to do, and we are looking for someone with energy, enthusiasm and insights into
professional practice, who never wants to stop learning in the role. The successful applicant
will be a member of the management team and will play a key role in CIEEM’s ambition to raise
the profile of our profession and ensure that members have the tools and resources needed to
lead action to address biodiversity and climate emergencies.

As part of our commitment to making CIEEM a great place to work, we offer a comprehensive
reward and benefits package which includes; flexible working, 25 days leave plus public
holidays, a generous Workplace Qualifying Pension Scheme with CIEEM contributing up to 10% of
gross salary (dependent on employee’s contribution) for eligible employees, as well as
appropriate professional development opportunities and access to an employee assistance
programme. Whilst the role is based at Ampfield, near Romsey in Hampshire, we support staff to
work up to 50% of the time from home if that is their preference and can consider other
flexible / remote working arrangements. We are happy to consider job-share proposals from
applicants with complementary knowledge and experience.
