Full-time, tenured position of Professor in Animal Genomics
The position is attached to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
Mission
The successful candidate is expected to set up an internationally competitive research program in eucaryotic genomics. Research topics pertaining to domestic animals will be an advantage.
The successful candidate will teach two undergraduate courses in medical genomics for students in veterinary (28 hours) and biomedical sciences (20 hours), respectively. For this mission, the applicant will benefit from the full-time support of a teaching assistant.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège is the only complete veterinary faculty of the Walloon Region. It counts 400 staff members and about 1800 students.
The chosen candidate will have the option to join one of the research units of the University among which the GIGA (https://www.giga.uliege.be) and the FARAH (https://www.farah.uliege.be) research units, as well as the Unit of Animal Genomics (https://www.gigauag.uliege.be). Together, these institutes count 150 PIs and more than 600 members. In the recent years, their PIs have jointly obtained > 10 ERC grants. In particular, the Unit of Animal Genomics has positioned itself as a world leader in its field, with top-level publications in the best journals including Science (PMID: 8662506); Nature (PMID: 22297974), Nature Genetics (PMID: 9288100; PMID: 16751773; PMID: 9988262; PMID: 21516082; PMID: 18344998; PMID: 21151126; PMID: 11279514), PNAS (PMID: 14983021; PMID: 16690740), Genome Research (PMID: 37751945; PMID: 37793781).
Salary and starting package
The salary grids and their rules of application are available from the Human Resources department of the University: [email protected]. This salary will include a comprehensive medical insurance and pension plan.
The successful candidate will be able to apply for a startup package to set up his/her research activities.
Required qualifications
The applicant is expected to have a PhD in biomedical sciences with experience in genetics and genomics, to have post-doctoral experience, and to have demonstrated the ability to raise research funds independently.
