The University of Hull is seeking to appoint a permanent Director of the Energy and Environment Institute. This is a strategic University role and the postholder will be part of the PVC (Research and Enterprise) Executive Team. As lead of the Institute, the Director will work closely with the University’s leadership team and engage with Deans, Heads of Schools and Directors of Service across the University to encourage transdisciplinary collaboration. The Director will drive outstanding performance in research and knowledge exchange and facilitate excellent teaching and curriculum development, including for climate literacy across all subject areas. The Director will also be responsible for capitalising on the benefits of this work to promote and enhance the University’s profile and reputation through statistical reports and returns and, crucially, by building and leading external networks in academia and wider communities of influence.
The postholder will also work across the EEI team, providing leadership in order to continue to grow our research and knowledge exchange portfolio. The successful candidate will be a world-leading researcher with a strong portfolio of research in either: (i) climate change and environmental resilience, or (ii) sustainable energy systems with a particular focus on low-carbon energy solutions that contribute to carbon net zero goals.
The application process is through a covering letter and CV. Please ensure that you explain how you would meet the specific duties and responsibilities in the job description/person specification.
