PROFESSOR/HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF EVOLUTION, ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR

Salary commensurate with level of appointment, plus Head of Department supplement (currently £9,000 per annum)

The Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences   is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as the Head of Department of Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour. The ideal candidate for this role will act as a proactive and engaged leader; forging connections across the Institute, Faculty and wider University to contribute to the ongoing development and oversight of the Institute’s strategic and operational plans; and will provide leadership and management to a team of approximately 30 academic staff within the Department.

The applicant should have a strong track record that complements the existing research strengths of the Department in mechanisms of adaptation, biological impacts of climate change and invasive organisms, host-parasite interactions, microbial ecology and evolution, animal welfare and conservation.

Reporting directly to the Executive Dean of the Institute, the Head of Department will be a member of the Institute Leadership Team. They will be responsible for developing and implementing plans at the level of the Department, with significant responsibility for staff line management, including academic workload management and supporting professional development.
