Professorship (W3) „Inorganic Coordination Chemistry”

Institute of Inorganic Chemistry tendersglobal.net to be appointed as soon as possible

The University of Stuttgart is one of the leading technically oriented universities in Germany in one of Europe’s most vibrant high-tech and industrial areas. The university is a reliable employer, partner for technology transfer and is committed to the interdisciplinary integration of engineering, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences based on the fundamentals of cutting-edge research at a disciplinary level.

The faculty of chemistry at the University of Stuttgart is searching for a W3 Professor in inorganic coordination chemistry with a research focus on synthetic molecular inorganic coordination chemistry, covering key competences for future-defining chemical developments and technologies. Candidates should have a track record of independent, internationally recognised research, which is documented by suitably renown high-ranking publications. Examples for potentially suitable research focuses may include “development and applications of novel, molecular coordination compounds of d- and/or f-block elements”, ”investigations of energy or electron transfer processes in molecules”, “synthesis of molecular quantum systems” or “bioinorganic chemistry”.

The research of appropriate candidates should be able to contribute to the central research goals of the university such as “sustainable energy production and environment”, “novel materials and quantum technologies” or “mobility” and will strengthen the research directions within the faculty of chemistry including “crossing borders in catalysis and biocatalysis”, “chemical approaches to quantum science and technology” and “materials for chemical energy storage and conversion” by innovative developments from molecular coordination chemistry. Collaborations in research initiatives within the faculty, such as the CRC 1333 “molecular heterogeneous catalysis in confined geometries” and the initiative for a cluster of excellence “Chem4Quant” as well as willingness to participate in joint research endeavours with colleagues focussing on developing application-oriented coordination compounds and their physical-inorganic analysis within the faculty of chemistry, the university and partners both nationally and internationally are expected.

Candidates must be able to teach the whole breadth of inorganic chemistry both in German and English. The professorship is strongly involved in our BSc/MSc program in chemistry as well as the international MSc program “Chemical Sciences”. The Candidates are expected to contribute to introductory chemical education of chemically-oriented engineering programs, acting as a bridge between natural sciences and engineering.

We are searching for an individual who is distinguished by high-ranking scientific publications with international visibility.

For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page in total. Possible successes may include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development or spin-offs.

The requirements for employment listed in § 47 and § 50 Baden-Württemberg university law (LHG) apply.

Written applications, including CV, scans of diplomas, a short summary of scientific and teaching accomplishments, a structured list of publications, the candidate’s track record of successful research grants, and a short statement on current and planned research activities as well as copies of the certificates should be submitted online via https://berufungen.uni-stuttgart.de by January 6th 2025 addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Prof. Cosima Stubenrauch. Please send postal applications to Universität Stuttgart, Berufungsmanagement, Keplerstraße 7, 70174 Stuttgart, Germany.
