  • This internship program will begin Monday June 3rd and will end Friday, August 9th . The pay is $16-$17 an hour and the position is expected to be full-time over those 10 weeks. This will be a hybrid internship with mandatory in person sessions that are part of the program once a week. 


    About Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) at UMass Chan Medical School 

     

    The Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) is a paid internship experience for talented college students.  Individuals historically underrepresented in STEM, health science and medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to students that identify from one of the following underrepresented groups in STEM, health science and medicine:  Black/African Americans, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islanders, individuals with a disability or the first in their family to attend college, are also strongly encourage to apply.

     

    Participants in the EPSIP program benefit from: 

    • a 10 week, paid summer business internship at UMass Chan with an administrative focus
    • a unique opportunity to be guided and mentored for the world of business in academic medicine
    • professional development series of lectures, networking, mentoring, resume and job search preparation, and more
    • an opportunity to discover their passions and interests and discern which career path is best for you

     

    General Summary of Position 

     

    We pioneer novel programs devoted to clinical care, medical education, research and health policy in Family Medicine and Community Health, with a special focus on the health of populations who are most at risk. We foster partnerships and collaboration, enhancing and spreading innovations that improve health.

     

     

    The Community Health team (FMCH) is responsible for coordinating several community health educational activities. The Program Assistant Intern will provide support to the Community Health team by

     

    – Interviewing medical students and faculty to document work on community projects
    – Researching and updating the Community Health online resource materials
    – Preparing student database and materials for fall programming
    – Writing and designing Independent Learning Modules on population and community health topics
    – Attending meetings and events in the Worcester area; occasional weekend assistance requested for tabling at summer events

     

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    1. College Junior or Senior
    2. Creativity and writing skills a must
    3. Must be highly organized and detail oriented
    4. Ability to manage multiple projects
    5. Clear and grammatically correct written communication skills
    6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Minimum Word and Excel)
    7. Proficient in use of social media accounts
    8. Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Background/interest in web design and learning to use Episerver
    • Background/interest in independent/ adult learning and online educational module development
    • Interest in community engagement and public health
    • Demonstrated good presentation skills or interest in learning presentation skills
