Overview of position
Under the overall
supervision of the WASH Programme Manager, the direct supervision of the WASH
Officer and administrative supervision of head of Sub Office, the successful
candidate will support the implementation of activities committed in
project proposals and those required for development and sustainability of the
IOM WASH programme in Afghanistan.
Role objectives
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1.Assist in the
implementation and monitoring of WASH project activities.
2.Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific
project topics.
3.Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving
liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate
requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative
actions, etc.
4.Prepare and follow up on the field team deployment plan on daily and
weekly basis and report to the WASH Officer.
5.Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing
them to the attention of the supervisor.
6.Carry out technical
assessments and analyse the data collected towards the implementation of
projects in the water, sanitation and hygiene to respond to the needs of IDPs
and host community.
7.Assist the WASH
Programme Officer in preparing cost estimates for water, sanitation and related
hygiene interventions.
8.Assist the WASH
Officer in preparing final bidding documentation for tender processes.
9.Regularly monitor all
basic portions of the WASH projects in progress and provide weekly updated
summary to the WASH Officer.
10.Draft daily field
reports, analyse the reports and discuss matters that need attention with
supervisor.
11.Bring to the attention
of the supervisor of any works which are not meeting timelines or where quality
standards are not being met.
12.Monitor that materials
are used in accordance with specifications/procedures and instructions from the
supervisor, keeping records and coordinating with the Logistics Officer for
request and delivery to implementation sites.
13.Prepare and define
logistical needs for the implementation of your activities.
14.Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in
public health, Environmental/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water
management or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three
(3) years of relevant professional experience.
Or
High School Diploma
with five (5) years of relevant professional experience
Experience
Experience in
community mobilization, public health and WASH, especially in conflict or
post-conflict areas.
Experience in WASH
services implementation, contribution such as water, sanitation and hygiene
promotion is required.
Experience in
monitoring team activities is such a strong advantage.
Direct experience in
the Central and/or Eastern Regions is essential.
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage
Experience in Cluster
coordination and engagement with humanitarian actors is required.

In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
