Who we are 

Undergraduate Strategic Partnerships collaborates with the College Advising Corps (CAC) to ensure every student has an opportunity to enter and complete college. We serve more than 50 high schools spread across the state in Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Brazos Valley, and Rio Grande Valley regional areas. In an effort to increase the number of low-income, underrepresented, and first-generation students pursuing higher education, the Texas A&M program hires, trains, and places exceptional recent college graduates from all fields of study to serve as full[1]time, near-peer college advisers in underserved high schools.

What we want

The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of the Brazos Valley Promise (BVP) program at Texas A&M University. This program is partnership between the University and local school districts to support first-generation and low-income students from the Brazos Valley in completing high school and being prepared for college. Programming efforts include planning and executing in-school programming for 9th-12th grade students, experiences on campus at Texas A&M University, and parent and community engagement that supports college access.

Salary : $36,512 – $45,500 (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)

Other Requirements and Factors: Must be able to work some evenings and weekends based on programming schedule. Position required to travel to local school districts.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Two years of experience in middle or high school teaching or counseling, or experience in post-secondary recruitment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic and evolving team,

• Ability to be adaptable and solutions-oriented in the face of challenges.

• Ability to connect with middle and high school students and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or youth development.

• At least two years of experience in program or event planning, project management, curriculum development or community-based programming. Experience working or volunteering with first-generation students or working in underrepresented communities.

• Strong project management skills. Ability to speak conversational Spanish.

• Must have a State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license of ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. 

Essential Duties/Tasks:

• Program Planning – Responsible for the planning and development of the Brazos Valley Promise program with a primary responsibility for the 2031 cohort and secondary responsibility for program support for other cohorts as needed. Plans curriculum and program design for school-based and Texas A&M University on campus programming with input from peers and supervisors. Meets all requirements of University Youth Programs and conducts event planning and communication using the SLATE CRM. Responsible for all participant, family, and school communication related to programming. Supports the long-term planning and development of the Brazos Valley Promise program including the development of a community service roadmap and other needed deliverables. May assist in collecting and reporting on data related to program efficacy and outcomes.

• Program Execution – Implements programming for Brazos Valley Promise program participants with a primary responsibility for the 2031 cohort and secondary responsibility for support of students in other cohorts as needed. Provides education and advising on a variety of college and personal development topics including career exploration, financing college, college admissions processes, and more. Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school stakeholders in service of the program’s mission. Engages current TAMU students in program execution and ensures their preparedness.

• Operations – Assists with operational duties related to the Brazos Valley Promise program including budget and expense tracking, inventory management, and developing protocols for programming. Supports Brazos Valley Promise program teammates with duties related to programming, student nominations, family communication, and school engagement as needed.
