JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Primary duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.
- Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement. Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.
- Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
- Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings. Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports. May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
- Prepares operational and statistical reports. Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers. Performs related responsibilities as required. This is not an administrative support position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to initiate and oversee projects pertaining to the program, deal effectively with faculty and undergraduate students, and communicate program information verbally and in written format via department website, online conferences, and listservs.
- Responsible for researching and compiling data for academic reports.Candidate must have excellent communication and outreach skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks independently with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must have technical/computer skills in Microsoft Office suite; experience with OPUS, Cascade, Canvas, and web design/management also desired.
- Experience working in a college/university setting strongly preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- Coordinates departmental undergraduate program; responsible for interpreting and implementing undergraduate policy; assists and advises Director of Undergraduate Studies. Responsible for assigning advisors to students; tracks students’ progress toward the degree; verifies requirements have been completed.
- Assists and advises students on degree and graduation requirements for the three majors and one minor offered by the department. Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding degree requirements; corresponds with and meet with potential students and family members; compiles and communicates program information verbally and in written format.
- Advises department chair and faculty of undergraduate policies and procedures; serves as authoritative source for College and departmental guidelines and policy information; attends College undergraduate committee meetings along with or in the absence of the DUS. Serves as point of contact for faculty and students concerning practical implementation of educational policy and procedures; may recommend educational policy change.
- Oversees undergraduate honors program, and honor society. Manages application processes and verifies eligibility; assists faculty advisor and student officers with programmatic event planning. Manages application and enrollment processes for semester-long programs at American University and Bard College; coordinates study abroad and internship approval processes.
- Prepares undergraduate curriculum proposals and department entries in College catalog; researches and writes feature articles for departmental website and newsletter. Researches, compiles data, and writes reports for the department and for submission to Emory College; responsible for accuracy and validity of information.
- Assists in general day-to-day operation of department office. Answers phones, assists faculty with class related materials (photocopies/scans); provides general information to visitors and callers. Performs other tasks as needed in support of departmental programs.
- Performs related tasks as assigned by Academic Department Administrator and Department Chair.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
