The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of approximately 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
The CSIS Warfare, Irregular Threats, and Terrorism Program (WITT) is seeking a Program Coordinator who will support the operational and substantive goals of WITT and will play a key role in the successful administration of the program.

The ideal candidate for this job thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and has a strong customer-service mindset.

The candidate should enjoy detail-oriented work and project management and be able to learn quickly.

The Program Coordinator will have access to high-ranking officials, see the inner workings of the nation’s premier foreign policy think tank, and build their organizational management skills. Responsibilities cross all program components, including: event planning and execution, budget management, fundraising and grant reporting, intern hiring, and collaboration with other programs across CSIS. The role has room for additional growth in program management  and research tasks after mastery of essential duties and responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to work on activities and projects that span multiple subject areas and can quickly adapt to changing operational needs.

They must be able to multitask, appropriately prioritize competing demands, and effectively communicate.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000 based on experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Organize and manage all aspects of event planning and logistics, including for public and private meetings, panel discussions, and conferences.

Periodically work outside of regular business hours to assist with critical program events.

• Develop and monitor the program budget and track program finances, including preparing quarterly budget review materials and regularly processing program payments.
• Draft proposal materials, including budgets, and assist in program fundraising efforts.
• Manage grant reporting requirements, including tracking deadlines, drafting materials, and submitting deliverables.
• Maintain program Salesforce databases, including tracking program fundraising opportunities, logging program activities with donors, generating invoices, and maintaining a record of grant documents.
• Provide scheduling support and coordinate the scheduling of calls, in-person and virtual meetings, and travel for events and projects.
• Assist in the publications process, including liaising with the CSIS Dracopoulos iDeas Lab, drafting webpage language, and conducting social media promotion.
• Assist with intern selection and management.
• Other administrative tasks as needed.
• Room for growth in research responsibilities after mastery of other essential duties.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Completed bachelor’s degree (minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent).
• 0-2 years of relevant work experience (including internships).
• Demonstrated interest in international affairs, defense, and/or security issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage administrative responsibilities and tasks with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work closely and cooperatively with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, dispositions, and executive levels.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with senior U.S.

government officials, executives, and other senior personnel.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
• Past experience coordinating events, conducting business or brand development, and tracking finances or expenses is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:

CSIS has returned to working full time in the office.

Individuals must be committed to regularly working from headquarters in Washington, DC. Virtual employment will not be accepted for this role.
