  • Be part of the team responsible for delivering our best practice youth mentoring programs in over 180 secondary schools across Australia. This role will partner with 2 schools in the Gold Coast
  • 10 hours a week – must be available Monday and Tuesday for program delivery
  • Work in a growing, proactive not-for-profit supporting youth mental health

ABOUT RAISE:

At Raise we exist to help young people.

Our best-practice, school-based mentoring program is proven to make positive and sustained change. Mentoring empowers young people to be resilient, connected and hopeful for the future. We match trained volunteers with teenagers who would benefit most from an independent, caring adult who is there to listen – and be there just for them.

Our early intervention youth mentoring program will be in 180 high schools across Australia in 2024. This translates to over 2,300 young people matched with a qualified mentor this year alone. In the last 15 years, Raise has reached over 10, 000 young people across Australia. We have trained over 8, 000 mentors.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role requires that you have qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.

Our Program Counsellors are responsible for managing all aspects of our best-practice youth mentoring programs in their designated schools. The role is responsible for the successful implementation, delivery and completion of the program, including professional supervision of mentors and mentees, key stakeholder communication and quality reporting.

Other Responsibilities include:

  • The successful set up of the program through collaborative communication with the school Principal, wellbeing team or other staff contacts
  • Mentor support and retention including the provision of a mentor support session each week
  • Program delivery over 20 – 23 weeks mostly during Terms 2 and 3 of the school year
  • Mentee wellbeing and the escalation of any mandatory reporting requirements as required
  • Evaluation of our programs on completion
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with Raise Policies
  • Operate within guidelines of the Raise Policy Manual
  • This is a casual position for 10 hours per week leading 2 programs at schools located in Geelong, Victoria

ABOUT YOU:

As a Program Counsellor you will be a dynamic, engaging and passionate professional with qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.

You are a community minded individual with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of young people. Your vibrant personality will engage both the mentees and volunteer mentors during the session each week, as the nature of this role requires you to lead group activities in the session, supervise the mentoring matches and facilitate a debrief with the mentors each week.

Your outstanding skills in communication and organisation will see your programs run smoothly with the partnering school, as you will work closely with an appointed school contact to ensure a high standard of program delivery. Most importantly, you are someone who really understands young people.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will be underpinned by your outstanding attention to detail, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office to ensure that all administrative requirements of your program are in place. Experience with Salesforce, another CRM or a willingness to learn is ideal.

You will have or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Crime check.

You will report to and work closely with your Program Manager.
