About us
Desert Support Services (DSS) is a successful social enterprise providing a range of services supporting Aboriginal Corporations to achieve a sustainable and independent future, focusing on building capacity by empowering local and regional decision making.
DSS forms part of the Central Desert Group (CDG) of companies that also include Central Desert Native Title Services, Desert Accounting and Business Support, and Rockhole Funds Management. Each company operates independently but works closely together where there are clients and interests in common.
DSS has a vision that Aboriginal people of the Central Desert are using their traditional lands to fulfil their highest social, cultural and economic aspirations.
Since incorporation in 2012, DSS has successfully obtained millions of dollars’ worth of land management programs for Desert groups. Transitioning those contracts over to Aboriginal Corporations is the next exciting step in a process set in train by DSS more than a decade ago.
About the Role
DSS is looking for a dynamic operator with a proven track record to join its leadership team at an exciting time in the organisation’s development.
We seek someone who can pilot new developments in a challenging environment and work with Aboriginal groups that have the opportunity to run their own show. Key to this role will be successfully transitioning major land management contracts from DSS to client organisations and negotiating appropriate new funding arrangements.
At this critical point in DSS’ development, we need a strategic thinker and strong collaborator to help us evolve a trusted and solid business into an exciting new phase providing high quality, cost effective and targeted services across the desert region of WA and beyond.
Based in the unique new ‘Desert Hub’ facility in West Perth, the role also includes travel to remote WA locations with Traditional Owners.
