Thousands of families connect via community-led Playgroup sessions affiliated with or delivered by Playgroup NSW run every week, building their parental capacity, building their village, and helping their children learn.

We are looking for a Program Lead, Community and Volunteer Engagement to join our village here at Playgroup NSW.

About the role

As our Program Lead, you will be responsible for implementing, managing and evaluating high-quality community and volunteer engagement strategies, including the development and improvement of community awareness strategies to increase participation in community playgroups.

In addition, you will also have responsibility for:

  • Lead and manage the operation of all Community and Volunteer programs against contractual obligations to meet funding requirements
  • Lead the continual development and implementation of the volunteer engagement strategy that reflects best practices in the community and supports our mission
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage with various community stakeholders, including individuals, groups, businesses, and local organisations.
  • Organise and facilitate community events, workshops, and meetings to promote awareness of our programs and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key influencers, community leaders, and partners to amplify our message and reach.
  • Oversee Playgroup NSW’s Intergenerational Program within Aged Care facilities
  • Support your team to develop and enhance local networking opportunities such as with local child and maternal health services and other relevant services to develop cross-referral pathways and community awareness
  • Support and advocate for children and family participation in the community.
  • Complete all reporting requirements, including those relating to government funding as well as program evaluation.

About you

  • Previous experience in community engagement, and volunteer coordination is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Well-developed liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Experience in community building programs;
  • Demonstrated practical experience leading, motivating, and supporting a team to deliver quality programs and services
  • You must have full working rights and Current Working with Children Check (or a willingness to attain one)
