POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Program Manager is a key member of C&NN’s program team, providing technical assistance (TA) to community teams on their efforts to increase equitable access to nature through systems change. The Program Manager works collaboratively with other TA providers and partners to foster peer learning and field-building. They will manage event and project activities, develop resources and materials, and provide technical assistance and network building support to advance equitable access to nature in communities across the U.S. 

The ideal candidate is a skilled facilitator with experience and expertise in at least one related topic or field, such as early childhood, trauma-informed services, climate resilience, sustainability, green infrastructure, GIS, park planning, landscape design, policy or play. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Assistance

  • Provides technical assistance to city and community leaders to implement strategies for assessment, partnership development, planning, youth and resident engagement, and implementation of nature-based strategies
  • Develops and delivers presentations, trainings and workshops (in-person and online) to support city and community leaders and partner organizations
  • Proactively and regularly communicates and provides coaching in the form of consulting services and referrals to high-quality information and subject-matter experts
  • Facilitates peer learning, events and discussion in support of collaboration and network-building
  • Supports organizations in integrating indicators for nature connectedness and related milestones into their evaluation systems
  • Maintains awareness of new developments, research and resources in the field and applies that learning internally with colleagues and in external work

Resource Development

  • Creates content and documents lessons learned from prior projects for new resources and tools, in collaboration with C&NN communications colleagues
  • Collaborates with C&NN research team on evidence-based resource creation and design and implementation of assessment mechanisms in programmatic activities
  • Provides ongoing feedback and insight on existing C&NN content and recommends content for development with and by partner organizations
  • Applies specific content expertise throughout all relevant resource development programmatic activities, including serving as an in-house expert for colleagues

Project Coordination

  • Project manages activities such as conference or convening session development, resource creation or site visits, communicating clearly with team members and participants and managing timelines to meet programmatic goals
  • Researches, synthesizes and maps community-based organizations who are working to create equitable access to nature
  • Coordinates application processes as appropriate to engage community-based organizations in cohort participation
  • Participate in organizational activities, meetings and duties as assigned

A successful candidate will have the following skills, education and experience:

  • Subject-matter expertise in at least one related topic or field (e.g. early childhood, trauma-informed services, climate resilience, sustainability, green infrastructure, GIS, park planning, landscape design, policy or play)
  • Excellent and proactive writing and facilitation skills to engage geographically dispersed colleagues and partners
  • Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative, virtual/remote team environment
  • Proficiency in cloud-based platforms (C&NN uses Google Workspace)
  • Must use own computer, phone and reliable internet service

LOCATION AND TRAVEL 


The Children & Nature Network is a virtual organization with no central office. Some travel is required, specifically for annual conferences, staff meetings and retreats, and in-person technical assistance visits.

COMPENSATION & OTHER 

Compensation: $67,500, negotiable based on subject-matter expertise. (Benefits include: health insurance, retirement, Paid Time Off & holidays, remote office 

allowance)

Status: Full-time, salary, regular 

Reports to: Director of Green Schoolyards & Communities 

Start Date: May 1, 2024
