Job Summary
The Arts & Humanities Administrative Services Group provides support to departments and centers in the Arts & Humanities Division. This position is responsible for oversight and management of 1 of 2 teams of staff who will increasingly take on centralized financial administrative processing for the A&H units, provides interim coverage as needed during long term absences or vacancies of department administrators. This position performs day-to-day financial and departmental administration and human resources transactions, including preparing, verifying, and monitoring budgets, financial analysis, forecasting, and application of financial policies.
Position Description
Financial Administrator. Serves as full-time financial manager with responsibility for accounts and funds across the division. Processes and approve financial transactions; reconciles accounts and balances funds at year-end. Develops and submits budgets for events to comply with FAS policy. Provides faculty with fund account balances and track spending. Approves and processes high volume of P-Card transactions and Concur expenses.
Oversees HR functions for 4 non-exempt, HUCTW staff, including employee relations, recruitment, hiring, performance management, compensation, training and development and staff relations. Reorganize and train current staff to absorb financial and curricular administrative work from the A&H departments and units. In conjunction with the Director for Financial Administration and Operations, develops and implements procedures for work assignments and workflow to better support the needs of faculty and staff across the division. Manages daily performance of AHAS staff in their onsite and offsite responsibilities to ensure smooth completion or ongoing work and projects and additional assignments.
In conjunction with the Director for Financial Administration and Operations, develop and administer an ongoing onboarding program for new department administrators, and other key administrative staff. Implements and guides performance for new personnel to the division.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. 5-7 years of progressively responsible administrative management experience, including staff supervision and financial management in an academic setting.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential, including the ability to deal diplomatically with a wide range of people. Strong leadership, negotiation, consensus building skills. Demonstrated experience with a service-oriented unit, and experience with financial systems and data query tools.
Additional Information
This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days on campus per week. May be subject to change based on the needs of the community.

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
