Program Manager

Homer Soil & Water, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking qualified applicants to join our team.  This is a part-time, year-round position. Our programs depend on various grants, and we are seeking an individual who finds joy in number crunching and has a head for budgets. This position will start working within our Invasive Species Program, but there is room to grow the position into other programs (Habitat, Agriculture, Native Plants) depending on the interest and  capacity of the applicant and grant funding.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate closely with the staff and the District Manager to manage and track budgets for various grants.
  • Compile quarterly (or as required) financial reports for various project grants using various online submission platforms and following various instructions, depending on the funder.
  • Submit reimbursement requests to funders and invoices to project partners and contractors in a timely manner.
  • Assist program coordinators with developing memorandums of understanding with partners as well as tracking and communicating financial progress throughout the project.
  • Produce regular financial and budget reports from QuickBooks for program coordinators and for the District Board.
  • Assist program coordinators with grant budget development, grant applications and submissions.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with partners, funders, contractors, and District Board.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be able to show attention to detail.
  • Applicant must be able to show the ability to work well on a team with clear and continuous communication.
  • Applicant should be self-motivated, able to work independently at home as well as in the office, while maintaining coordination and fluidity in communication and information exchange with partners and staff.
  • Applicant should be familiar with electronic and distance communications for coordination with partners including Google Calendars, Google Meet, Google Drive and Zoom.
  • Applicant should be familiar with QuickBooks. Bookkeeping experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with government platforms for grant management is preferred.
  • An understanding of website management would also be preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required, experience in the natural resources field preferred.
