The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, (FNF) based on the principles of liberalism, is dedicated to promoting liberal political education globally, advocating for freedom, and fostering active civic engagement. Since 2007, the addition “for freedom” has become an established part of our foundation’s name. After all, freedom isn’t exactly in trend these days. This makes it all the more important to campaign for freedom and to take on the responsibility that goes hand in hand with it. We have been doing this since our foundation on May 19th, 1958. Our headquarter is based in Potsdam, and we maintain offices throughout Germany and in over 60 countries around the world.
Based in Washington, D.C., the North America Regional Office consists of two key programs. The Transatlantic Dialogue Program bridges political, business, and cultural leaders from the U.S., Canada, and Germany to develop innovative solutions to transatlantic issues. The World Order and Globalization Hub focuses on enhancing global economic understanding and fostering international cooperation. Both programs aim to drive social and economic progress through knowledge exchange and mutual understanding.
Role Description
This is a full-time position for a Program Manager in the Transatlantic Dialogue Program, based on-site in Washington, DC. We are seeking a highly motivated, bilingual (German/English) Program Manager to support our Transatlantic Dialogue initiatives. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented young professional looking to launch a career in international relations and political project management.
The Program Manager will be responsible for managing high-level dialogue programs, coordinating events, and facilitating collaboration among transatlantic stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include developing strategies to address transatlantic challenges, building relationships with key partners, and engaging in public outreach through events and publications. The manager will also ensure the program’s smooth operation, budget adherence, and alignment with the foundation’s strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination:Support the Head of the Regional Office in the end-to-end organization and management of complex international study tours, high-level conferences, and public events.
- Join the study toursincluding international traveling.
- Create contentfor articles, studies and social media.
- Executive Support:Coordinate travel, accommodations, and scheduling for the Head of the Regional Office.
- Administrative Tasks:Assisting in procurement processes and daily office operations.
- Data & Network Management:Maintain and expand our professional database, including invitation lists and program alumni.
- Communications:Assist in creating engaging social media content regarding German and transatlantic politics; prepare agendas and protocols for staff meetings.
- Team Support:Contribute to the overall development of office projects and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Education:University degree preferably Political Science, International Relations, German Studies, or a related field.
- Language Skills:Full professional proficiency in both German and English is mandatory.Candidates must be able to draft professional correspondence and converse fluently in both languages.
- Experience:Demonstrated interest in political institutions (internships or previous work experience preferred).
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience withCanvaandMailchimpis highly desired.
- Soft Skills:Exceptional attention to detail, discretion with confidential matters, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
- Alignment:Strong identification with the goals and values of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
