Program Officer, Private Sponsorship Processing Stakeholder Coordination

Overview: The Program Officer, Private Sponsorship for Stakeholder Coordination supports the overall implementation of the Matching and Placement function within the Welcome Corps initiative, with a significant focus on supporting medical coordination for cases supported through the Sponsor Someone You Know Phase. The Program Officer works closely with the Community Sponsorship Hub, PRM, IOM and State Refugee Health Coordinators to develop policies and procedures to support the continuum of care for refugee cases with Significant Medical Care or Medical Escort needs. Other support to the program includes assistance with additional case processing and travel activities, updating appropriate stakeholders as needed, and maintaining awareness of Private Sponsorship Organizations and Private Sponsorship Group networks. This also includes communicating with Welcome Corps Consortium members to facilitate program implementation. This position reports to the Senior Program Officer, Private Sponsorship Matching and Placement within the Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) Department.

Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementation of standard operating procedures, database updates and communication with stakeholders such as private sponsorship organizations, private sponsorship groups, U.S. Department of State Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, Refugee Processing Center, Refugee Support Centers, IOM, and State Refugee Health Coordinators.
  • Maintain working relationships with State Refugee Health Coordinators for awareness of state and location specific healthcare related challenges and resources.
  • Consult with Private Sponsor Groups for named refugee cases that have Significant Medical Conditions and Medical Escorts to assess and ensure preparation for arrival and continuum of medical care is prepared for prior to case arrival.
  • Coordinate language support as needed for initial case consultations with Private Sponsor Groups
  • Review and quality-check all medical documentation and assurances before assuring case in START.
  • Maintain communication protocols with private sponsor organizations to ensure assurance deadlines are met. Support communication about medical coordination, assurances, and potential issues and provide feedback to Senior Program Officer as challenges arise.
  • Communicate any changes to medical care or travel etc. of sponsored refugees to sponsors organizations and private sponsor groups.
  • Provide input and support on policy and procedure as relates to the Welcome Corps on Campus and Welcome Corps at Work programs.
  • Identify and adapt systems to strengthen customer services and user experience throughout the assurance and travel processes.
  • Support compliance with donor requirements including but not limited to quarterly and year-end financial and narrative reporting.
  • Assist with creating procedures and completing Affidavit of Relationships (AORs) for arrived Welcome Corps cases, who are unable to access the program to file through resettlement networks or have an assigned PSG unable to support to name another Welcome Corps case that would otherwise support family reunification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in social work or related field of study preferred.

Work Experience: Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of 3-5 years’ experience strongly preferred. Experience with medical coordination or casework within U.S. Resettlement Program strongly preferred.

Working Environment:

  • This position is a fully remote position.
  • Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 10%.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
