Overview

Jhpiego is a non-profit global health leader and Johns Hopkins University affiliate that is saving lives, improving health and transforming futures. We partner with governments, health experts and local communities to build the skills and systems that guarantee a healthier future for women and families. Jhpiego translates the best science and practice into moments of care that can mean the difference between life and death for women and families. The moment a woman gives birth; the moment a midwife helps a newborn to breath. Through our partnerships, we are revolutionizing health care for the world’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers and others.

Though, National Mental Health Program is in place in India since four decades, its implementation is plagued by many challenges. The situation is worse when it comes to Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) issues. Unfortunately, the magnitude of the problem is unexplored and largely unaddressed. Evidence suggests prevalence among women in low- and middle-income countries can be as high as 20%. Although other studies have shown extreme variation when looking at certain populations within LMICs. To address these challenges Jhpiego will be conducting an implementation research (IR) for mainstreaming Maternal Mental Health (MMH) in existing health system. Under this project, Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Clinco-social based at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The position will be responsible for providing technical, functional and operational support in intervention state & district towards this IR as mentioned above. S/he will work closely with the government officials, implementing partners and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of Project. The position will report to National/State Program Officer.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinico-Social Psychologist to join our Perinatal Mental Health Project team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating pregnant and post-partum women for comprehensive psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, and support services through existing health system. The Clinico-Social Psychologist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the mental health and well-being of perinatal women and contribute to the overall success of the project.
