Project Background:
The Bangladesh Systems Strengthening for One Health (SSOH) aims to enhance Bangladesh’s global health security (GHS) capacity to operate a high functioning and equitable One Health (OH) disease detection system that prevents, detects, and responds to new and emerging infectious and endemic zoonotic diseases, while ensuring good One Health governance and reducing risks of irreversible antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Through an evidence-informed and integrated systems approach, SSOH will strengthen Bangladesh’s One Health Systems and enhance the country’s capacity to prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from infectious disease threats. The activity aims to achieve results under the following development objectives:
- Strengthen Systems for Better One Health Governance across the Government of Bangladesh (GOB).
- Strengthen One Health Disease Detection Systems for effective prevention, detection and response.
- Reduce Threats of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across OH sectors.
Role’s Purpose:
The Program Support Manager will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and will report directly to the Chief of Party. The Program Support Manager will function as liaison for the Chief of Party (COP) to support the COP and Technical Leads with workplan optimization, resourcing, integration and monitoring. This role will coordinate in-country and cross country activities to ensure efficiency and quality standards, and a key role will be supporting activity pivots and emerging or re-prioritized needs.
Key duties and Responsibilities:
- Under close supervision of the COP, facilitates technical approach development across technical teams to ensure integrated execution in line with the work plan.
- Coordinates closely with PHTL, EWHTL, AHTL, technical specialists, and coordinators to identify technical assistance resourcing requirements and deploy resources, including LTTA and STTA from Activity team, partners, and externally.
- Collaborate with the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) and other stakeholders regarding institutional technical resourcing requirements and contribute to institutional strengthening planning for sustainability.
- With inputs from the technical team, design technical interventions contributing to SSOH outcomes. Ensure integration of cross-cutting components across work-areas.
- Support COP to track delivery progress against workplan, ensuring efficient, effective and timely delivery.
- Works with the MEL Director to support monitoring, reporting and knowledge management activities for effective USAID reporting as required.
- Act as liaison for COP in-country and cross country coordination activities of the grants.
- Collaborates with GOB and other stakeholders regarding institutional technical resourcing requirements and contributes to institutional strengthening planning for sustainability.
- Will support COP and Leads to prepare the quarterly reports on activity progress or other interim, case studies, etc., in collaboration with the technical staff and stakeholders.
- Support Technical Leads to prepare the monthly and quarterly reports on activity progress or other interim, case studies, etc., in collaboration with other technical staff.
- In addition, it may be needed to perform additional activities within the SSOH activities, if felt necessary by the COP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or other related field; Master’s degree in public health or One Health-related preferred.
- At least nine years of experience in public health, One Health programming, or other relevant areas; experience with outbreak surveillance preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams with diverse stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Proven project management experience with sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Previous experience working on USG or other bilateral and multilateral organization projects.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language skills.
Reporting
The Program Support Manager will report to the Chief of Party.
