UN Women’s partnership under the nationally led Ta7wisha programme focuses primarily in supporting the women-led digital savings groups. By substituting the tin box that was originally used by rural women to pool their savings under the classical version of Savings Groups, the digital SGs now enable rural women to individually and collectively onboard (or “be banked”) and track their personal savings and individual and group loans through the “Ta7wisha” mobile phone application developed in 2021. Further, the national programme supports women’s access to national ID cards and provides technical and market-focused support to the women-led digital savings groups to deepen their economic opportunities.
