Mission and objectives

UN Women Uzbekistan is working to advance Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the country.

Context

UN Women is present in Uzbekistan since May 2023 based on the request of the Government of Uzbekistan. The main objective of this presence is to support government and respective partners to facilitate and also accelerate the implementation of National Gender Equality Strategy. Therefore, UN Women will develop different programme pillars in line with the priority of the government and ensure a gradual expansion to advance Women’s Rights and Gender Equality in the country.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Country Programme Manager for Uzbekistan or his/her designated mandated representative(s), National Volunteer is expected to: – contribute UN Women’s programme development for Uzbekistan – leading administrative support including facilitating procurement, supply etc. – support CSW68 multi-stakeholder consultations for Central Asia to be hosted in Tashkent in mid- February 2024 – support Asian Women Forum which will be hosted by the Government of Uzbekistan in Samarkand in May 2024 – manage daily office management tasks – support in written and consecutive translations for high-level meetings

Requirements

Required experience

1 years of experience in relevant area.  Gender equality, project and programme management or other relevant programmes; experience with UN Women is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;  Excellent oral and written skills in English, Russian and Uzbek; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;  Excellent organizations skills especially on organizing high level multi-country/multi-sectoral events  Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;  Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;  Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;  Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;  Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;  Soundsecurityawareness;  Have affinity with or interest in gender equality and women’s empowerment, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.

Living conditions and remarks

As of January 2024, National UN University Volunteers receive USD 492/month as their Volunteer Living Allowance. Other entitlements include: 1. Pre-assignment Entry lump sum – USD 400 Relocation costs – at beginning and end of assignment if duty station is outside of commuting distance (as determined by UNV) 2. During assignment Volunteer living allowance – USD 492 / month (as indicated above) Learning – Access to UNV’s learning and career development resources Annual leave – 2.5 days per month Insurance – Comprehensive coverage for health, life and malicious acts 3.
