ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
To deliver against the above, the Country Office is seeking a Social Protection Programme Assistant (SC 5) to perform specialized and/or standardized processes and activities under to the social protection portfolio. The incumbent will operate under the direct supervision of the Head of Social Protection
JOB PURPOSE
To perform specialized and/or standardized policy and programme-related processes and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Perform specialized and/or standardized processes and activities relating to the social protection portfolio, supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
- Provide project management for social protection projects following established social protection targets and WFP’s policies and procedures.
- Compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports relevant to the social protection portfolio (e.g. shock-responsive social protection country capacity assessment, resource utilization, programme status, performance) in order to support decision-making.
- Perform accurate, timely recording of data related to the implementation of social protection activities, following corporate social protection M&E guidelines.
- Work and exchange information with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing social protection activities.
- Support communication and collaboration with external social protection stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for resolution of general social protection queries.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Completion of secondary school education. University degree in social sciences and relevant fields is desirable.
Experience
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in:
- Facilitation of communication with technical teams (i.e. social protection, TEC, VAM, etc.).
- Contribution to implementation of programmes.
- Assistance with policy discussions.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required. Professional knowledge of Arabic or Kurdish is an asset.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
- Familiarity with Agenda 2030 and respective targets – particularly SDG1, SDG2 and SDG17 – and how the work of WFP can contribute to achieving them.
- Familiarity with WFP’s mandate, Country Strategic Planning process, intervention modalities, programme and project lifecycle tools, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation desirable.
- Basic understanding of technical and theoretical concepts pertinent to social protection.
- Strong knowledge of key national and regional contexts and issues.
- Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Ability to produce high-quality written outputs in the working language.
- Understanding of basic principles of stakeholder engagement with government and other counterparts at the national or local level.
- Appetite for exploring and experimenting with new ideas and approaches.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Position Title: Programme Assistant (Social Protection)
Grade: SC5
Contract: Service Contract
Duty Station: Baghdad, Iraq
Duration of contract: 6 months, with possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance
Salary: Minimum Annual Net Salary is USD 21,441.00
Medical Plan: International valid medical plan for the staff member, spouse, and dependent children
Annual leave: 30 working days per annum
