Climate Science and narrative-based communication:

Climate forecasts are critical instruments for decision-makers developing effective strategies
for climate change mitigation and adaptation. However, policymakers often lack access to clear,
context-specific and evidence-based recommendations. To make climate forecasts indispensable
tools for decision-makers, pre-existing, long-run data series need to be complemented with
short-term data focused on present or very recent climate events that are relevant to
practitioners. It is vital to communicate how climate change impacts health, agriculture, and
food production systems in such a way that messages spur action without debilitating key
stakeholders.

At Climate Strategies, we focus on translating cutting-edge research into accessible formats
and disseminating it to key stakeholders through dynamic forms of climate communications.
Furthermore, we facilitate knowledge-sharing between different groups and identify ways through
which scientific contributions are most effective in triggering and supporting climate action.
This role will provide support to the work under our new groundbreaking project Augures!, while also creating opportunities for
shared learning with other related initiatives. This is an entry-level, full-time position with
1 year fixed-term contract and a possibility of extension depending on available funding.
Whilst climate science and narrative-based communication will be a major focus of this role,
the ideal candidate would be interested and willing to work on the full breadth of topics in
Climate Strategies’ project portfolio.

Successful applicant(s) will primarily work on the following projects:

  • Support coordination, stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities for our new
project Augures!, which aims to amplify cutting-edge research on climate science, mega-trends
and tipping points using narrative-based communication strategies informed by psychological
    techniques.
