WFP has been present in Sri Lanka since 1968 and provided assistance to the country in emergency response and protracted recovery interventions in the aftermath of man-made disasters such as the 27-year conflict, COVID 19, economic crisis, and recurrent natural disasters (Drought and floods/landslides). WFP aims to support and facilitate multi-sector approaches to nutrition and food security through both nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programming, including supporting the government to scale up its rice fortification effort, promoting positive nutrition practices, as well integrating nutrition lens within the WFP-assisted School-based Programmes and resilience-building programmes.

To provide effective support and technical analyses for policy and programme activities related to nutrition.
1. Provide support and assistance in the development and implementation of various activities and processes related to nutrition technical assistance activities within the nutrition and SBP programmes supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
2. Provide specialized project management support to related programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
3. Within nutrition and SBP, prepare a range of reports and data analysis and highlight trends and issues, ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
4. Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data and consistency of information presented to stakeholders within the nutrition and SBP.
5. Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
6. Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, private sector related networks, and government institutions.
7. Support organizing the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the area of nutrition and School Based Programmes (SBP).
8. Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within nutrition and SBP.
9. Review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
10. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
Education: Completion of secondary school education and a post-secondary certificate in the areas of Agriculture, social sciences, nutrition or development. A degree in a relevant area is preferrable.
Language: Proficiency in both oral and written communication skills in English. Written and oral communication skills in Sinhala and/or Tamil are preferred.
