Purpose/objective of the position:

The Programme Intern (Protection) will support the protection team in analyzing the protection context and trends in INTERSOS areas of intervention to inform programme adjustment and development, evidence-based advocacy and programme learning. 

 

Tasks:

  • Support the Salah Al Din team to develop a methodology for a study and analysis on the impact of civil documentation work on vulnerable IDP and returnees’ ability to access basic services, reintegrate in local communities, and exercise their human rights;
  • Support the development of tools and processes for quarterly protection trend analysis in KRI, Ninewa and Salah Al Din, in coordination with the protection and MEAL teams, and accompany the first round of data collection, analysis and reporting;
  • Contribute to the revision of protection monitoring tools & methodology (Household Assessments, focus groups discussions, key informant interviews, etc.) and their adaptation/modification according to emerging protection trends; working closely with the Protection Coordinator and MEAL department to streamline and utilize available databases (legal and protection platforms) and MEAL surveys;
  • Support the consolidation of the tools and process for participatory protection context analysis; accompanying the rolling out of PCA in various programme locations as needed in cooperation with field teams;
  • Lead design and coordinate the process of assessing the protection risks, vulnerabilities, and needs of affected populations (Protection needs assessments). 
  • Work closely with Protection/Programme Managers, Protection Coordinator, and Country Programme Coordinator to define context-relevant protection advocacy messages for various platforms and audiences;
  • Prepare communication and advocacy-related materials, such as factsheets, briefs, reports, etc.;
  • Other duties as assigned or delegated by the Protection Coordinator

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Person Specification:

Education and professional experience:

  • University Degree in Human Rights, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Academic and practical experience with protection issues in Iraq
  • Previous experience working with NGOs is highly desired

Languages : 

  • Fluency in Arabic and/or Kurdish (written and spoken)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
