Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located within the Political Affairs Division in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). The Programme Management Assistant will be based in Kinshasa. The incumbent reports to the Senior Political Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities
Within the limits of delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: • Assist Political Affairs Division in the collection, verification, and analysis of information on the political situation in Kinshasa, as well as in the establishment and regular updating of a database on the different actors and local partners; • Assist in establishing contacts and maintaining relations between the Political Affairs section and National and local partners; • Participate in the drafting of various reports of the Political Affairs Division, including notes, field mission reports, personality profiles, analysis of the political, electoral and security situation, etc. • Attend National Assembly sessions as well as other meetings deemed useful to the division. • Submit detailed reports of such meetings for assessment of his/her PAD chief of section, for possible transmission to the mission management; work in close collaboration with the other substantive sections, including Public Information, Human Rights, Civil Affairs, Rule of Law, Gender, etc. and ensure regular liaison between them especially in the preparation of reports as well as the design and implementation of specific and/or urgent activities; • Assist in the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of programmatic and outreach projects to support the political good offices of the Mission and the implementation of the Mission’s political mandate. • Draft reports on other lesser politically sensitive internal and outside meetings as directed by his/her PAD chief of section. • Liaise with political and administrative sphere to facilitate contact with Government, National assembly, and other national institutions. • Assist with the orderly filing of documents and correspondence of the Kinshasa PAD office. • Perform other tasks and/or specific responsibilities and/or urgent duties as may be assigned by the D/PAD and or his/her PAD chief of section.

Work Experience
At least five (5) years of professional experience in areas related to law, international relations, human rights, and social sciences or communications is required. Experience in liaising and engaging with national authorities, civil society, and political parties is required. Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in French is required; and knowledge of English is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

This position is temporarily available until 30 June 2025. This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules.
