- To lead a multi-disciplinary project team, engaging across the team, client, partners, and the business.
- To manage and co- ordinate programmatic activities across the constituent projects within a programme.
- To lead the interface and to work with the PMO.
- To maintain effective control, maintaining adherence to the programme’s performance baseline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-disciplinary programme team, ensuring effective engagement with all stakeholders
- Lead on engagements with internal and external suppliers and customers, demonstrating an ability to influence stakeholders
- Develop, manage and maintain key programme artefacts
- Lead on schedule, cost, risk, change management activities, and reporting
- Effectively manage resources to ensure timely delivery
- Supervise and coordinate activities across the programme
- Prepare programme status reports for Head of Delivery and other stakeholders
- Resolving issues with management and stakeholders
- Coach and mentor junior project managers in the DU
Person SpecificationEducation and Qualifications
- MSP Practitioner or equivalent programme management qualification.
- Formal Agile (especially SAFE v6.0) training an advantage.
- Formal MOP (Management of Portfolios) training an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Substantial knowledge of the Defence domain and experience in interfacing with UK MOD and goverment agencies
- Demonstrable experience track in the successful delivery, control, planning and planning of a large complex programme, preferably in an agile/ SAFe environment.
- In depth experience of programme management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing a strong aptitude toward working horizontally across the programme and vertically to senior levels of management.
- Effective communicator and facilitator – able to adapt style to diverse audiences when communicating both formally and informally
- Proficient in EVM processes and their application ideally in an agile/ SAFe environment.
- Attention to detail, with effective presentation skills.
- Awareness of Management of Portfolios (MOP) an advantage
