This position is located within the Office of the Director (OD), United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer supporting the Director, and under overall guidance of the Director, UNOOSA. The Office of the Director (OD) is responsible for supporting the Office’s overall direction, administration and management, leading external relations and public information activities, overseeing coordination and cooperation with entities involved in space-related activities, the maintenance of the United Nations Register of Objects Launched into Outer Space and the implementation of assigned partnerships, initiatives and activities, among which World Space Forum, Space for Women, Space Economy, Space for Youth, Space for Climate Action, Promoting Space Sustainability and Enhancing International Expertise in Registration of Space Objects. Responsibilities
Within assigned authority the Programme Officer will perform the following specific duties: • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the following partnerships, initiatives and activities: Space Economy, Space for Women, Space for Youth and Promoting Space Sustainability. • Contribute to the implementation and/or coordination of executing project deliverables, draft or review progress and final reports, studies and publications, education materials and training modules and conducting interviews with stakeholders. • Plan and organize related workshops and interactive sessions, including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. Provide substantive support to other meetings and conferences. • Participate in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc. • Support administrative and management needs of the Office, the preparation of programme plans and budget document and related submissions, as well as performance reporting and compiling related reports, and reviewing narrative and financial reports to donors. Contribute to monitoring and analyzing programme/project development and implementation. Identify, analyze problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions. • Contribute to the development of partnerships and business opportunities, including developing processes and workflows to facilitate coordination on those efforts; identify sources and seek funding, including through the preparation of written outputs, e.g. project proposals, and supporting negotiations for cooperation, funding and partnership agreements; conduct due diligence on potential partners; and maintain effective relationships with donors. • Provide support to the Office in maintaining quality reporting and meeting specific donor reporting needs, as required. Contribute to building organization-wide coherence and quality in donor reporting, including providing support on reporting guidelines and policies to programme officers across the Office, in collaboration with senior management. • Serve as focal point for gender and youth; provide support in drafting, designing, developing youth and women engagement initiatives and programmes; contribute to gender mainstreaming efforts throughout the Office. • Engage with Member States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, United Nations system entities, as well as the private sector. • Assist in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies. • Undertake outreach activities and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in international relations, political affairs, public administration or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme management, planning and budget, and administration is required. Experience in organizing capacity-building activities in the area of space economy and gender equality is required. Experience in fundraising and developing international partnerships with international partners and donors is required. Work experience in the office of a senior official, preparing and reviewing reports, briefing notes and statements is desirable. Experience and in using information and data to inform decisions and strategies is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
