UNICEF JAMAICA goal is to help to fulfil the rights of every child.
We pursue this goal by partnering with stakeholders such as the government, non-governmental organizations, change-makers in civil society and the private sector to influence and improve laws, policies, and programmes which will impact how children access quality services. We are in a unique position to collaborate with everyone including advocates and service providers who work closely with children and their families, as well as the elected leaders who are responsible to ensure that laws and policies are in line with children’s rights. Most importantly, we integrate the voices of our children and adolescents by engaging them on the issues that affect their lives.

How can you make a difference?
The Programme Officer (DRR and CC) will provide support to:
1. knowledge management and innovation for child-centered environment and climate change policy and programming.
2. national and subnational CC and DRR policy and planning advisory services, including policy documents / assessments.
3. programme development and implementation.
4. advocacy at key events and among partners.
5. programme management, monitoring and delivery of results.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Minimum requirements:
Education:
• A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Disaster risk, sustainable development, climate change, environment, public policy,
• Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement / supplement the main degree are desirable.
Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Disaster Management, Climate Change or Environmental Science, International Development, Emergency preparedness and response or relevant field
Skills
• Motivated to contribute towards the rights of children, peace and development, and to serve others.
• Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
• Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
• Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
• Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions

- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
