DURATION: 11 months
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE:
Bambari area office covers 4 prefectures in the South-East of the Central African Republic: Ouaka, Basse-Kotto, Mbomou and Haut-Mbomou. It has 2 offices, the main office of which is based in Bambari.
with its Bangassou field office.
The operational context is marked by a very volatile security situation with almost permanent insecurity in the four prefectures which are all a rear base of different armed groups.
Furthermore, there is worryingly severe food insecurity affecting all these prefectures and increased chronic malnutrition indicated by high rates exceeding alert and emergency thresholds in certain localities.
The position aims at coordinating activities of Programme (Implementation of GFD, Nutrition to treat and prevent acute malnutrition, school meals, resilience, capacity strengthening) and transfers modality (food, cash/e-vouchers, capacity strengthening). Coordination of the implementation of the food aid activities includes in depth partnerships with functional units in the country office (Programme, Supply Chain, RAM, Gender Protection, AAP) as well as with the other units within the area office.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Head of Area Office, the incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities for which he/she will be accountable for:

Emergency Programming | Displays ability to translate understanding of programme principles in emergencies and protracted conflict situations into relevant, effective, and context specific approaches. |
Strategic Policy Engagement w/ Government | Develops thorough recommendations using multiple inputs (e.g., government counsel, research, own experience) to strengthen national or subnational entities and government owned food and nutrition security programmes. |
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Food Security, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or other fields relevant to international development assistance, Natural Resource Management, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Experience:
For holders of an advanced degree, 5 years of relevant work experience, and 7 years for holders of first-level university degree of progressively responsible experience in managing food security/assistance programmes or other development-related fields.
Language: Fluent in French and Intermediate knowledge (level B) in English
