Job Description

AECOM has an immediate need for a highly talented Project Accountant to support the DCS Finance Team. This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement to include a combination of office and remote scheduling and can be based in a number of different locations, including, but not limited to, Omaha, NE; Virginia Beach, VA; Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC; Charleston, SC; Atlantic, GA

Job responsibilities:

  • Perform various aspects of Project Accounting Management including end-to-end project support with mix contract types

  • Assist and support internal project manager in the use of project management systems and reports

  • Monthly review on projects with internal project team to preemptively identify project issues and highlight to stakeholders

  • Prepare various financial reports and provide analysis and recommendations for project performance improvements as and when required

  • Assist in identifying, tracking, and reporting on projects in financial distress

  • Assist in tracking and elevating aged billed and unbilled receivables

  • Administration of the project accounting system

  • Ensure internal project accounting policies & procedures are properly adhered to

  • Liaise with internal and external auditor and prepare documentation required

  • Support internal project manager in reviewing and monitoring project financial status

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar curriculum + 4 years of experience supporting analytical accounting reconciliation and auditing or demonstrated equivalency and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Detailed oriented with ability to prioritize work and meet quick turn-around deadlines with limited oversight in a fast-paced environment

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of end-to-end project lifecycle, project accounting concepts & methodology, and contract types

  • Knowledge of Federal contracting and project life cycle

  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to produce high-quality analysis

  • Work well in a team environment and collaborate with others to accomplish team objectives

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint such as pivot table and formulas

  • Prior project accounting experience a plus

  • Working knowledge of APIC, Oracle, and PM Digital Workbench programs a plus

  • Prior experience working with a global company a plus

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $55K – $88K annually. Please note that this role can be based anywhere in the United States and compensation data will vary in each location, including higher or lower than the stated range.
