The Project

The National Plastics Recycling Scheme (NPRS) project is being developed by Australia’s food and grocery manufacturing industry with funding support from the federal government. The NPRS project, led by the AFGC, is designing Australia’s largest industry-led plastics recycling scheme, taking hard-to-recycle soft plastic packaging out of waste streams and giving it new life.

About the Role

The Project Administrator is a pivotal role within the NPRS and AFGC’s wider sustainability portfolio. You’ll provide admin support, coordinate project tasks, manage documentation, implement processes and efficiencies, and facilitate communications among a wide variety of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.

This position will initially commence under a 6-month contract within AFGC, with the expectation of transitioning to the new commercial entity in 2024 as a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project schedules and calendars
  • Manage correspondence, emails, and phone calls
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodations
  • Assist in the preparation, formatting, and distribution of documents, reports, and presentations
  • Draft and format project documentation, including memos, letters, presentations, and proposals
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings, workshops, and conferences
  • Support team members in tracking progress, deadlines, and milestones

Experience and Knowledge

  • An understanding and passion for sustainability, recycling, plastics and/or waste
  • Ability to work flexibly in a small team environment and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Experience in project management tools, preferably Asana or similar
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management, preferably MS Dynamics 365
  • Strong communication and organisational time management skills, especially in a project or evolving environment
